Percy Faith's sister

Today the Taffanel Wind Ensemble debuted its new programme for 2012. The audience really liked the concert which included music arranged by Marsha Swietzer and a work by Francois Devienne who was a French bassoonist and flutist. Interesting combination.
At the end of the performance, a woman came up and thanked us for the performance. Apparently, she is Percy Faith's sister. There were 8 children in the family. Percy Faith the oldest and she was 15 years younger and the youngest. Nice to meet someone who has this kind of musical connection.
We are looking to future performances.

Happy New Year

The Taffanel Wind Ensemble wishes all its listeners a Happy New Year. We look forward to music making in the New Year.
First performance will be at Terrace Gardens and then Rouge Valley Retirement Residence.

New Year

It will soon be a new year and the Taffanel Wind Ensemble will be very busy. Our list of gigs already fills three pages and we have two more that were not even solicited this week. Will not turn down a possible opportunity to perform.
Right now all performances are seniors homes but when we have performances which are for the general public they will be posted.
In the meantime, we are getting ready for a performance this Friday and then the New Year will bring in the many opportunities mentioned.

Hazelton Place

This week, the Taffanel Wind Ensemble will be at Hazelton Place. This is the time of year that the group tries to help audience members get in the holiday spirit. Our music changes to include carols. We are lucky to have purchased carols from bassoonist Marsha Schweitzer, bassoonist who lives in Hawaii. The arrangements are excellent. Have already used them for many years.
Will be at Spadina House next week and will let you know about other locations.
Hope that you are starting to get in the holiday spirit.

Seasonal Performances

The Taffanel Wind Ensemble is busy with seasonal performances. On Wednesday we were at Colborne Lodge in High Park for an open house. Quite delightful. This week, we are at Hazelton Place and the following week, we will be at Spadina House for another open house. We are busy with seasonal music at this time.

Still Playing

If you have visited this site, you might be wondering if the group is still playing. The short answer is yes we are. Unfortunately, for many of you the places that we play are seniors homes and therefore not suitable for public performance.
We will make sure that we let you know when we have a public performance and hopefully that will be soon.

Don Mills Shopping Centre

The Taffanel Wind Ensemble is very busy with performances this summer. Just got another performance on Friday. Amazing, I have been calling this particular location for about 5 years with no results and then suddenly out of the blue there is a call requesting a performance. We are ready to perform and in only a couple weeks.
Two of us from the Taffanel Wind Ensemble will be playing for the public with the rest of Otteto Prosciutto at the Don Mills Shopping Centre on August 13th, 2 p.m. Hopefully, it will be a nice day and you will enjoy the experience.
